Ralph
Regula Receives 2002 National Leadership Award
for HIV/AIDS Service
Washington,
DC – Representative Ralph Regula (R-OH), chair of the House Committee
on Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services,
and Education is a recipient of the 2002 National Leadership Reception.
This award is given for outstanding leadership in the effort to
end the domestic HIV/AIDS crisis annually by AIDS Action and representatives
of the U.S. Conference on AIDS.
Dr.
Marsha Martin, executive director of AIDS Action, presented Chairman
Regula with a plaque during a meeting at his office, this afternoon.
“Chairman Regula has helped to keep attention on the numerous
challenges facing this nation because of HIV, the virus that causes
AIDS. He has been a champion for the cause,” Dr. Martin noted.
“With new support from the Bush Administration,” she continued,
“I am hopeful that Representative Regula will find it easier to
secure the funding that people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS
need to lead healthy and productive lives.”
Representative
Regula, a former educator, is serving his fifteenth term in Congress
as the representative from Ohio’s sixteenth Congressional District.
In Ohio, Representative Regula formerly served both as a State
House representative and as state senator.

AIDS
Action Foundation strives to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic by working
for public policies that promote prevention against new infections,
provide care for people already living with HIV/AIDS, and support
the search for a cure. AIDS Action is the national voice of all
people living with HIV, representing community based organizations
